“Party Hat” from 12 Months a Year [a patron album]
As many of my partners past or present can attest, I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day. I think the expectations that have grown up around it are stressful and largely disingenuous, and as much as I may love someone my anxiety spikes around any social celebration of a thing that matters to me. Love matters. I just don’t want to have to put on a party hat or a nice pink dress to express it. I’d rather express it every day in little ways because I know how lucky I am to love and to be loved in return.
