Sometimes the choices we make cost us more than we realize until much later, and then sometimes it's too late to repair the damage. Thinking about loss and distance, holding out hope that the gap will be bridged again one day.
I was crossing the tracks in the snow a couple of months ago and the crows called overhead. The lines "crows on the tracks today / they've got a lot to say as I walk by" showed up in my head and waited for me to write them into a song: the first one of 2022.
