Remembering Percy

100 words on “I Saw the Veil” from Transitory [demo album]

My granddad was a gentle man. The last time I saw him I remember feeling like he was only half there, as though he had one foot through the veil already. Turns out he did and he’d been having a series of mini-strokes. At his funeral I was angry the service did very little to honour the life of the human he had been, just as he was. When I got home I sat down to write the eulogy I thought he deserved. Not for us, the mystery of death. We remain to wonder, wandering the stars in our hearts.
