Manic plight of bingeing

“Engorgia” written as a song-a-week in 2020

Writing fiercely introspective songs means sometimes you confront parts of yourself that maybe you don’t want to explore. When this happens to me as a songwriter, I have learned to let the songs come but I don’t always share them publicly. In 2020 during the lockdowns when touring ground to a halt, I wrote a song a week with a dear friend of mine and told myself that this was the time to stop trying to outrun the scary stuff. So I wrote about trauma, survival, losing my mom, and this one about eating disorders, undoing some stigma and shame.
